What is an Allergy? Allergy is when a person’s immune system reacts to something that is usually harmless. A person who is predisposed to allergy will react to things that are naturally present in the air such as pollens or mold spores. They may also react to indoor things such as animal dander and dust mites. When these agents produce allergic symptoms they are referred to as allergens. Symptoms of allergy can range from mild to extremely bothersome. Common allergy symptoms include runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing and itchy eyes.

Westside Allergy Care, is a medical specialty practice dedicated to the care of patients with allergies, asthma and related conditions. Founded in 1986 by Dr. Scott Valet, Westside Allergy Care has grown, with the addition of Dr. Thomas Adler and the recent addition of Dr. Anitha Shrikhande, to become one of the Rochester area’s leading Allergy and Asthma group practices.We appreciate the support and confidence placed in us by patients, their families and referring physicians that has made our success possible. Our offices are conveniently located in Greece, Brockport, and Batavia. We welcome new patients. Your appointment will be scheduled in a timely manner. You will see one of our board certified allergy physicians at your initial visit and at every follow up appointment. We will listen to your questions and concerns and address as many as we can, both at the time of your visit and afterward.

News and Education:

Westside Allergy Care has moved!
In July,2010, the Greece office moved from Latona Road to 99 Canal Landing in the Canal Ponds office complex. Then, in January, 2011, we opened an office in Batavia which is open on Wednesdays. Also, we have hired a 3rd Physician. Anitha Shrikhande, M.D.who joined us last August after completing her Allergy Fellowhip at New Jersey Medical College. She is Board Certified in Allergy and Immunology we are very privileged to have her.

We hired 2 new receptionists last year, and we ask your patience as they get to know you and learn how to serve you better, We need to update everyone’s insurance information and sign new Hipaa forms as we welcome you and your family for your initial visit of the new year.
