Scott B. Valet, MD
 

Dr. Valet’s interest in the medical profession began with his personal experiences with asthma as a child. While a premedical student at New York University, he also worked as a medical technician in the cardiac unit of St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City, where he had the opportunity to assist on one of the first mobile cardiac care units in the country and with preseason physical exams by team physicians for the New York Giants football team.

Dr. Valet came to Rochester in 1971 as a medical student at the University of Rochester. Following completion of his M.D. in 1975, he continued at Strong Memorial Hospital as a Pediatric resident; and subsequently for a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology while also a Cystic Fibrosis Foundation fellow in Cystic Fibrosis and Pediatric Pulmonary Disease.

Dr. Valet has been in the practice of Allergy and Immunology since 1980. He founded Westside Allergy Care in Brockport, later expanding to a second office in Greece. He has also served on the clinical faculty at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and as director of the pediatric allergy clinic at Strong Memorial Hospital. He currently has appointments to the staff at Lakeside Memorial Hospital, ViaHealth Rochester General Hospital, Unity Health Park Ridge Hospital and Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong.

Dr. Valet is board certified in Allergy and Immunology by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology, a conjoint board of the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also board certified in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP) and a fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (FAAAAI).

Dr. Valet has been commended by the American Lung Association of Mid-New York and by the American Lung Association of the Finger Lakes Region for serving as camp physician for Camp Superkids, the camp for kids with asthma. He has served as a support group medical advisor for the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America and he has received the Volunteer Clinical Faculty Award from the American Academy of Allergy and Immunology for his contributions to the Allergy/Immunology training program at the University of Rochester School of Medicine.

Dr. Valet was elected to the Board of Education of the Brockport Central School District in 1993, serving 6 years as a trustee. He also has served on the Special Education Advisory Council of the Monroe-Orleans BOCES. He is currently a member of the School Health and Sports Medicine committee of The Monroe County Medical Society. He has a special interest in the influence of the home and school environments on children with allergies and asthma.
